Understanding Dyslexia, supporting your child with a learning disability

Today Bryce will be talking to Alana Williams a special education teacher and Orton Gillingham (OG) instructor at Horizons Academy in Kansas City. Alana will explain what Dyslexia is and how to decode your child’s behavior to see if they might have Dyslexia. They will talk about steps to supporting your child with Dyslexia and how to advocate for them. Dyslexia is more common than you think, 1 in 5 children will have dyslexia and 80-90% of kids with learning disorders have it according to Dr. Sally Shaywitz with Yale Center for Dyslexia. Tune in to learn more about this learning disorder and to see if your child’s behavior might be a result of Dyslexia.
